The Voyages of Sindbad the Sailor is a massive, socially progressive nation, remarkable for its unlimited-speed roads. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 4.523 billion live in a state of perpetual fear, as a complete breakdown of social order has led to the rise of order through biker gangs.

Disaster victims are viewed with disdain, Max Barry is this year's Miss Sindbad the Sailor, commuter vessels have trouble staying afloat due to increased passengers, and racial and religious segregation has become rife as the various groups are loath to mingle. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is crippling, probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons. Sindbad the Sailor's national animal is the Roc, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Dirham.
