The Grand Duchy of Sideonia is a massive, environmentally stunning nation, ruled by Grand Duke Yuko with an iron fist, and renowned for its devotion to social welfare. Its hard-nosed, cynical population of 2.828 billion are kept under strict control by the oppressive government, which measures its success by the nation's GDP and refers to individual citizens as "human resources."

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, moralistic government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Law & Order, and Education. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Ahnvarrds. The average income tax rate is 95%. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Animal Liberationists are regularly jailed, retail stores offer sales every hour on the hour, children as young as twelve are conscripted into the armed forces, and artists regularly face criminal charges and art-burning parties are common. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Sideonia's national animal is the Pig, which is also the nation's favorite main course, its national religion is Siarr, and its currency is the Zeht.

Sideonia is ranked 9th in The Union of Red Nations and 17,273rd in the world for Most Extreme, scoring 28 on the Paul-Nader Subjective Decentrality Index.
