It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Education, although Healthcare and Commerce are on the agenda. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Greater Shinari Capital-Zone. The average income tax rate is 67%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Information Technology industry, followed by Uranium Mining and Book Publishing.

Tax evaders are regularly visited by agents of the Shinaria Blood Tithe, the 'Half King of Maxtopia' exhibit is the least popular amongst museum-goers, the public health bureaucracy is wrapped in miles of red tape, and torture is illegal. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Shinaria's national animal is the Quetzalcoatl, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the ShinCred.
