The System Alliance of Sennai is a colossal, cultured nation, ruled by The Alliance Council with an even hand, and remarkable for its keen interest in outer space. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 5.25 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Education, and Social Equality. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Farren Sen. The average income tax rate is 88%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Book Publishing industry, followed by Arms Manufacturing and Tourism.

Crime suspects are forced to submit to blood testing, thousands of former welfare recipients are in a revolutionary uproar as the rest of society is enjoying a hefty tax break, meat-eating is frowned upon, and the nation is ravaged by daily union strikes. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Sennai's national animal is the Pheonix, its national religion is Cycleism, and its currency is the Inter System Kredit.

Sennai is ranked 89th in The Milky Way Galaxy and 99,110th in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring -35 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
