The Republic of Sendo is a huge, economically powerful nation, ruled by Michael Hunter Sendo with an even hand, and notable for its keen interest in outer space. Its hard-nosed population of 854 million have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defence, and Commerce. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Christianberg. The average income tax rate is 71%, and even higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Sendo is increasingly belligerent on the international stage, a survey of the nation's rivers and children has shown that pesticide levels are at an all-time regional high, burglary is widely regarded as the national sport, and senior citizens can usually be found doing heavy manual labour. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is crippling, probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons. Sendo's national animal is the Swan, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Sendoran Dollar.

Sendo is ranked 3rd in The Southwest Pacific and 68,712th in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring -14 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
