The Commonwealth of Seleniar is a huge, economically powerful nation, remarkable for its unlimited-speed roads. Its compassionate, hard-working, intelligent population of 676 million have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Social Equality, Social Welfare, and Education. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Lunaria. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 67%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Uranium Mining, Furniture Restoration, and Automobile Manufacturing industries.

The government is reining in public spending, shops were recently ransacked as cigarettes returned to the shelves, fur coats have become the latest fashion trend, and Animal Liberationists are regularly jailed. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is crippling, probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons. Seleniar's national animal is the Horse, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Bitt.

Seleniar is ranked 77th in Equestria and 82,949th in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring -18 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
