The United Social Republic of Sedikal is a massive, environmentally stunning nation, ruled by Jęk Belavoveç with a fair hand, and renowned for its punitive income tax rates. Its hard-nosed, intelligent population of 2.724 billion are free to do what they want with their own bodies, and vote for whoever they like in elections; if they go into business, however, they are regulated to within an inch of their lives.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, liberal government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Education, although Healthcare and the Environment are secondary priorities. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Neccereç. The average income tax rate is 76%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Book Publishing industry.

Referenda are held for every conceivable government action, Red Cross demand for body bags is rising while sutures go unused, new safety regulations require all cars manufactured in Sedikal to be bombproof, and eminent domain has been abolished. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Sedikal's national animal is the Grey Wolf, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the shelk.

Sedikal is ranked 5th in ISSU and 16,506th in the world for Largest Public Sector, scoring 19 on the Bureaucratic Comprehensiveness Rating Scale Index.
