It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Social Welfare, and the Environment. The average income tax rate is 49%, but much higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Copyright laws have been abolished, Sciongrad's newly-famous raindances to summon storms instead attract tourists from all over International Democratic Union, a crusade against barbaric religious practices has begun, and the nation is completely gun-free. Crime is totally unknown. Sciongrad's national animal is the Elk, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, its national religion is freedom of conscience, and its currency is the Shield.
