The Community of Satosia is a gargantuan, socially progressive nation, renowned for its national health service. The compassionate, democratic population of 10.258 billion Satosians love a good election, and the government gives them plenty of them. Universities tend to be full of students debating the merits of various civil and political rights, while businesses are tightly regulated and the wealthy viewed with suspicion.

The government — a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked, socially-minded, outspoken morass — juggles the competing demands of Education, Social Policy, and Environment. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Alba. The income tax rate is 100%.

The large but underdeveloped Satosian economy, worth 782 trillion ecus a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. The industrial sector, which is extremely specialized, is mostly made up of the Book Publishing industry, with significant contributions from Tourism. Average income is 76,309 ecus, and distributed extremely evenly, with practically no difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Politicians are to be found scavenging bins at night to supplement their income, racial supremacists indulge their wildest fantasies in cinemas and theatres across the nation, most of the nation's wealthy aristocrats are dentists, and new safety regulations require all cars manufactured in Satosia to be bombproof. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Satosia's national animal is the quark, which is also the nation's favorite main course.

Satosia is ranked 18th in the Pacific and 1,804th in the world for Most Beautiful Environments, with 1,436.45 Pounds of Wildlife less Pounds of Concrete per square mile.
