The Republic of Saryeven is a colossal, safe nation, remarkable for its museums and concert halls. The hard-nosed, hard-working population of 8.385 billion Saryevenians have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded, corrupt individuals is mainly concerned with Defence, although Law & Order and Education are secondary priorities. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Information Technology industry, followed by Arms Manufacturing and Uranium Mining.

Fancy dress parties are raided by military police for new recruits, nine out of ten citizens of Saryeven answered 'nuclear safety inspector' when asked their occupation, graffiti artists spend lengthy periods of time in jail, and foreign 'investors' have been taking a great interest in the new secret shuttle. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Saryeven's national animal is the Black Panther, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Syn.

Saryeven is ranked 13th in Zarathustra and 54,051st in the world for Highest Drug Use, scoring 65 on the Pineapple Fondness Rating.
