The Kingdom of San Lumen is a colossal, economically powerful nation, ruled by King Jason Von Habsburg with an even hand, and renowned for its museums and concert halls. Its compassionate population of 8.627 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Defence, and the Environment. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Vienna. The average income tax rate is 79%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Book Publishing industry.

Politicians live in abject luxury, the government has started a campaign to crack down on road rage and encourage alternate means of commuting, all major public areas are watched by police surveillance cameras, and San Lumen has one of the largest offshore wind farms in the world. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is crippling. San Lumen's national animal is the Mute Swan, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Giselle.
