The Borderlands of Rygart is a massive, genial nation, ruled by Lygart with an even hand, and renowned for its strong anti-business politics. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 2.203 billion are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Social Welfare, the Environment, and Law & Order. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Krishna City. The average income tax rate is 61%, and even higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Police spend their Saturday nights breaking up illegal street races, Mocking Jays have more rights than the average citizen, Max Barry is this year's Miss Rygart, and the average commuter spends four hours a day driving to and from work. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Rygart's national animal is the Mocking Jay, which is also the nation's favorite main course, its national religion is a major religion, and its currency is the Gil.

Rygart is ranked 57th in Forest and 98,631st in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring -34 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
