The Republic of Rusinia is a huge, genial nation, renowned for its restrictive gun laws. Its compassionate, hard-working, intelligent population of 675 million have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Social Equality, and Healthcare. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Carpathian Village. The average income tax rate is 46%, but much higher for the wealthy. A large private sector is dominated by the Automobile Manufacturing industry.

The government tries to improve relations with hostile countries by sending gift baskets, the people are famous throughout the region for their bleached-white teeth, CEOs can't hear the term 'Fire Sale' without bursting into tears, and the government has declared its commitment to multilateralism. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Rusinia's national animal is the Carpathian Bear, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Dinaria.

Rusinia is ranked 877th in Europeia and 78,737th in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring -17 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
