The United Kingdoms of Rotanius is a colossal, genial nation, ruled by Lawrence III with an even hand, and remarkable for its keen interest in outer space. Its compassionate, hard-working, intelligent population of 5.727 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Social Welfare, Law & Order, and Education. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Rototan. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 40%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Automobile Manufacturing industry, followed by Tourism and Furniture Restoration.

Citizens are enjoying a recent large cut in taxes, major cities shut down as their local sports team takes to the field every day, punitive tariffs protect local industry, and the government has cut taxes in the face of widespread tax evasion. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Rotanius's national animal is the Falcon , which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Pound.
