The Imperium of Romanist is a gargantuan, economically powerful nation, ruled by Aecius with an iron fist, and renowned for its sprawling nuclear power plants. Its hard-nosed, cynical population of 17.79 billion are kept under strict control by the oppressive government, which measures its success by the nation's GDP and refers to individual citizens as "human resources."

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Law & Order, and Education. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Nova Roma. The average income tax rate is 100%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Arms Manufacturing industry.

Welfare funding has recently gone through the roof, all telephone traffic is monitored for 'national security reasons', atheists are heavily taxed, and rumours have it that a secret police is responsible for the recent spate of missing persons. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Romanist's national animal is the Roman Eagle, which is also the nation's favorite main course, its national religion is to each his own belief, and its currency is the denariiu.

Romanist is ranked 3rd in Brasil and 2,122nd in the world for Largest Timber Woodchipping Industry, scoring 11 on the Tasmanian Pulp Environmental Export Index.
