The Imperial Federated States of Romandeos is a gargantuan, cultured nation, ruled by Empress Taunja I Lockeheart with an even hand, and remarkable for its punitive income tax rates. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 15.943 billion are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Social Welfare, Defence, and Law & Order. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Tasmardonia. The average income tax rate is 72%, and even higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

The government is using tax revenues to provide jobs for the poor, Romandeos has designated Tasmardonia as its capital city, the government is attempting to revitalize a gutted private sector, and the government has cut taxes in the face of widespread tax evasion. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Romandeos's national animal is the Falcon, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Staaf.
