The Ingsoc States of Rodainia is a colossal, economically powerful nation, ruled by Big Brother with an iron fist, and renowned for its punitive income tax rates. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 8.376 billion are kept under strict control by the oppressive government, which measures its success by the nation's GDP and refers to individual citizens as "human resources."

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, moralistic government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Law & Order, and Religion & Spirituality. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Airstrip One. The average income tax rate is 70%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Arms Manufacturing industry.

Suppression of pro-democracy protests is a daily occurrence, newspapers cannot report anything about politicians without their explicit consent, students and teachers are regularly stopped and searched for symbols of religious affiliation before class, and citizens who fail to follow the official national religion are executed. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Rodainia's national animal is the bulldog, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is Neo Christianity, and its currency is the pound.

Rodainia is ranked 212th in Lazarus and 3,962nd in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring 18 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
