The Heavily Armed Republic of Rifleland is a massive, cultured nation, ruled by The Rifleman with an even hand, and remarkable for its sprawling nuclear power plants. Its hard-nosed population of 2.256 billion enjoy extensive civil freedoms, particularly in social issues, while business tends to be more regulated.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, liberal government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Defence, and Public Transport. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Rifleland City. The average income tax rate is 75%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, followed by Information Technology and Tourism.

Cars speed down national highways while drivers sleep at the wheel, new safety regulations require all cars manufactured in Rifleland to be bombproof, citizens are regularly found digging for treasure in their gardens, and multiple polls have christened the newly-formed Filibuster Committee as "the least efficient government bureaucracy". Crime is relatively low. Rifleland's national animal is the Wolverine, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Bullet.
