The Hipster Republic of Rhine Ruhr is a massive, socially progressive nation, ruled by President Jeffery with a fair hand, and notable for its complete absence of social welfare. Its compassionate, hard-working, intelligent population of 2.378 billion live in a state of perpetual fear, as a complete breakdown of social order has led to the rise of order through biker gangs.

The enormous, liberal, pro-business government juggles the competing demands of Education, Healthcare, and Defence. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Düsseldorf. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Book Publishing industry, followed by Woodchip Exports and Uranium Mining.

Pristine wilderness has been trashed in the quest for cheaper oil, the government regularly hires contractors to construct high rise apartments, citizens are allowed to rise or fall based on their own merits, and reports of arson have doubled since the introduction of a privatised fire protection service. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is crippling. Rhine Ruhr's national animal is the Bulbasaur, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Euro.

Rhine Ruhr is ranked 17th in European Union and 10,198th in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring -5 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
