The Incorporated States of Rhaetia is a massive, economically powerful nation, ruled by His High Lord Chancellor with an even hand, and remarkable for its anti-smoking policies. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 1.232 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Education, although Commerce and Social Welfare are secondary priorities. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Rhaetania. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 89%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Tourism, Information Technology, and Book Publishing industries.

Children deemed 'disorderly' or otherwise unfit for public schools are shipped off to military academies, military geniuses responsible for brilliant campaigns are drummed out because they have close same-sex friends and an interest in interior design, Rhaetia has been recently classified as an international menace after 'liberating' several nearby territories, and the "Underwear of Women in Power" issue of The Rhaetania Times is sold out. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Rhaetia's national animal is the Moose, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Rhae.

Rhaetia is ranked 4,234th in The North Pacific and 91,766th in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring -23 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
