The Dominion of Reythan is a massive, socially progressive nation, remarkable for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 1.88 billion hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, liberal government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Social Welfare, Healthcare, and Social Equality. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Reythos. The average income tax rate is 74%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Gambling, Soda Sales, and Tourism industries.

CDs are regularly copy-protected, the use of martial arts is banned, Reythan successfully hosted the Antarctica Olympics, and the Supreme Court vehemently protects civil rights and the right to privacy. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is moderate, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Reythan's national animal is the Phoenix, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the NuCredit.

Reythan is ranked 60th in Antarctica and 82,062nd in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring -18 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
