The Federal Republic of Retamotopia is a massive, genial nation, ruled by President Rein Markus Kirchner-Holst with a fair hand, and remarkable for its museums and concert halls. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 1.614 billion are free to do what they want with their own bodies, and vote for whoever they like in elections; if they go into business, however, they are regulated to within an inch of their lives.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Education, although Social Equality and Healthcare are on the agenda. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Keälone. The average income tax rate is 43%, but much higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Tourism industry, followed by Furniture Restoration and Information Technology.

Retamotopia's children are widely acknowledged as the most foul-mouthed in the region, Retamotopia is notorious for its citizens' infidelity, condemned prisoners spend hours a day sitting in lotus position looking perplexed, and the alarmingly racist TV show 'Bigtopians Say the Darndest Things' is a hit. Crime is totally unknown. Retamotopia's national animal is the Pangolin, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Dinar.

Retamotopia is ranked 341st in The Kingdom of Denmark and 82,997th in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring -18 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
