The Republic of Renaoland is a colossal, safe nation, ruled by Kai Kolwaski with an even hand, and renowned for its complete lack of prisons. Its compassionate, hard-working, intelligent population of 5.674 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Social Equality, the Environment, and Education. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Sęjendrum. The average income tax rate is 78%, and even higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

The Supreme Court vehemently protects civil rights and the right to privacy, scientists regularly clone human beings for research purposes, property values in suburbs have nosedived after the middle class were forced to live next door to ethnic minorities, and only fully-fledged members of MENSA are allowed to vote. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Renaoland's national animal is the Renaon Pengvinate, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the maro.

Renaoland is ranked 84th in Scandinavia and 98,301st in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring -33 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
