OverviewPeopleGovernmentEconomyTrendAnalysis

The Democratic States of Remedean is a gargantuan, economically powerful nation, ruled by President Jason Jacquez with a fair hand, and remarkable for its sprawling nuclear power plants. The hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 11.84 billion Remedeanians enjoy a sensible mix of personal and economic freedoms, while the political process is open and the people's right to vote held sacrosanct.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Defence, although Education and Law & Order are secondary priorities. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Girandian City. The average income tax rate is 75%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Information Technology industry, followed by Arms Manufacturing and Gambling.

Remedean's soft-touch approach to diplomacy has made it known as the 'push-over' of the region, anti-government political posters adorn every building like wallpaper, children spout "To Defend and Serve" involuntarily throughout the day, and the government is promoting multicultural values with the new 'Just Be Nice, OK?' initiative. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Remedean's national animal is the Gir, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is Catholicism, and its currency is the Pacifico.

Remedean is ranked 34th in Grand Central and 111,535th in the world for Least Corrupt Governments, scoring -448 on the Inverse Mugabe Relativity Rating.
