The Democratic States of Remedean is a gargantuan, safe nation, ruled by President Jason Jacquez with a fair hand, and remarkable for its sprawling nuclear power plants. The hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 12.051 billion Remedeanians enjoy a sensible mix of personal and economic freedoms, while the political process is open and the people's right to vote held sacrosanct.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Defence, although Education and Law & Order are secondary priorities. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Girandian City. The average income tax rate is 75%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Information Technology industry, followed by Arms Manufacturing and Gambling.

Anti-government political posters adorn every building like wallpaper, children spout "To Defend and Serve" involuntarily throughout the day, the government is promoting multicultural values with the new 'Just Be Nice, OK?' initiative, and pharmacies close down as medicinal drugs are sold freely by the government. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Remedean's national animal is the Gir, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is Catholicism, and its currency is the Pacifico.

Remedean is ranked 1st in Grand Central and 1,042nd in the world for Largest Trout Fishing Sector, scoring 12 on the Nemo Depletion Efficiency Index.
