The Recurring 47s of Relalix is a massive, economically powerful nation, ruled by StrawberryClock with an even hand, and notable for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 1.968 billion are rabid consumers, partly through choice and partly because the government tells them to and dissenters tend to vanish from their homes at night.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, pro-business government stops and the rest of society begins, but it devotes most of its attentions to Defence, with areas such as the Environment and Social Equality receiving almost no funds by comparison. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Clock City. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 51%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing, Information Technology, and Gambling industries.

Government police forces protect public schools from the threat of protest, the psych wards are overflowing with transsexuals, euthanasia is illegal, and protesters are up in arms over new nuclear power stations. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is a major problem. Relalix's national animal is the polar bear, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the dollar.
