The Empire of Reikura is a huge, safe nation, notable for its compulsory military service. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 577 million have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Law & Order, and Defence. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Renvor. The average income tax rate is 81%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, followed by Tourism and Book Publishing.

The government pours millions of Marks into rehabilitation programs annually, scenic mountain valleys are flooded with water as damming projects get underway, the government seeks peaceful forum with terrorists, and voting is voluntary. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Reikura's national animal is the Blue Raven, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Mark.

Reikura is ranked 7th in The Constellation and 91,569th in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring -23 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
