The Something or the other of Randomain is a massive, genial nation, renowned for its museums and concert halls. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 2.728 billion hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Education, although Social Welfare and Social Equality are secondary priorities. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Aleapolis. The average income tax rate is 89%, and even higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Nude art is becoming wildly popular, invading armies are given hard glares for their cheek, Max Barry is this year's Miss Randomain, and the government is promoting multicultural values with the new 'Just Be Nice, OK?' initiative. Crime is totally unknown. Randomain's national animal is the forest cat, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the plink.
