The Free Land of Puerto Thelosia is a colossal, socially progressive nation, notable for its sprawling nuclear power plants. Its hard-nosed, intelligent population of 7.351 billion hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, liberal government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, the Environment, and Healthcare. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of San Esperanza. The average income tax rate is 67%, and even higher for the wealthy. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

The airship business has been driven out of the country by strict regulations and high fines, torture is commonly used to extract information from suspected criminals, citizens live in superstitious fear of the mysterious glowing clouds that float over Puerto Thelosia, and Puerto Thelosia's market has been colonised by the corporations of rich countries. Crime is totally unknown. Puerto Thelosia's national animal is the whooping veras, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the nyan.

Puerto Thelosia is ranked 414th in Europe and 117,883rd in the world for Largest Timber Woodchipping Industry, scoring -8 on the Tasmanian Pulp Environmental Export Index.
