The Capitalist Hegemony of Psalm 69 is a colossal, socially progressive nation, renowned for its compulsory military service. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 6.947 billion are either ruled by a sleek, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.

There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded individuals juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Education, and Commerce. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Psalm 69 City. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Information Technology industry, followed by Soda Sales and Gambling.

Billions of warps are being blown on orbital weapons development, roads are often attended by round-the-clock construction crews, eminent domain has been abolished, and wealthy parents-to-be can select their perfect baby. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is crippling. Psalm 69's national animal is the groupie, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the warp.
