The Soviet Republic of Prolets is a massive, economically powerful nation, ruled by General Secretary with an even hand, and remarkable for its national health service. Its compassionate population of 3.698 billion are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Law & Order, and Healthcare. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Luybanka. The average income tax rate is 98%. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Arms Manufacturing.

The armed forces are locked in an expensive and bloody war abroad to stamp out possible terrorists, shaken martini sales have soared in nations surrounding Prolets, teams of painters are converting road signs from horse lengths to kilometers, and the importance of winning Olympic gold medals is indoctrinated from an early age. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Prolets's national animal is the bear, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the rubles.
