Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 1.63 billion are kept under strict control by the oppressive government, which measures its success by the nation's GDP and refers to individual citizens as "human resources."

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it is mainly concerned with Defence, although Law & Order and Commerce are secondary priorities. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Phoenix2012 City. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 49%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Retail, Information Technology, and Beef-Based Agriculture industries.

Religious organizations are being forced to leave the country or pay income taxes like everybody else, Red Cross demand for body bags is rising while sutures go unused, owning a tractor is widely regarded as an essential prerequisite to most government positions, and a large-scale revitalization of the education system is underway. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is well under control, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Phoenix2012's national animal is the Jackal, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is a major religion, and its currency is the blood dimond.
