The Metal Foundation of Pevisopolis is a colossal, cultured nation, remarkable for its keen interest in outer space. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 5.173 billion enjoy extensive civil freedoms, particularly in social issues, while business tends to be more regulated.

There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded, liberal individuals is effectively ruled by the Department of Social Welfare, with areas such as Religion & Spirituality and Defence receiving almost no funds by comparison. Income tax is unheard of. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Thousands of Pevisopolis's citizens have been evicted from their homes so as 'not to cause a fuss' on the international scene, retirement homes are often fitted with luxurious suites, public footpaths are being slowly eroded by the burgeoning number of ramblers, and only fully-fledged members of MENSA are allowed to vote. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is crippling, probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons. Pevisopolis's national animal is the Raven, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Tradesmark.
