The Kingdom of Peteotania is a huge, safe nation, notable for its parental licensing program. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 710 million are ruled by a mostly-benevolent dictator, who grants the populace the freedom to live their own lives but watches carefully for anyone to slip up.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Education, and Law & Order. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Peteotania City. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 48%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Door-to-door Insurance Sales, Woodchip Exports, and Retail industries.

Peteotania has designated Peteotania City as its capital city, wealthy parents-to-be can select their perfect baby, a crusade against barbaric religious practices has begun, and conscientious objectors are hanged as traitors. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Peteotania's national animal is the Three Faced Cockatiel, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Nibble.

Peteotania is ranked 3,168th in the Pacific and 71,155th in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring -15 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
