The Delegate Realms of Peteland is a massive, economically powerful nation, ruled by the Portuguese delegate with an iron fist, and renowned for its unlimited-speed roads. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 3.04 billion enjoy great individual freedoms in everything except elections, which, where they exist at all, are populist shams for a dictatorship government that has no intention of ever giving up power.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, liberal government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Commerce, and Law & Order. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of the delegate city. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 57%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Tourism industry, followed by Gambling and Automobile Manufacturing.

Highschool principals regularly send armed truancy patrols to drag problem students to school, the police force is on a recruitment drive, Red Cross demand for body bags is rising while sutures go unused, and urban high-volume mailers now receive their mail via chauffeur-driven limousines. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is moderate. Peteland's national animal is the Leão, which is also the nation's favorite main course, and its currency is the Escudo.

Peteland is ranked 97th in Portugal and 102,690th in the world for Most Income Equality, scoring 66 on the Marx-Engels Emancipation Scale.
