The Extremely Rad Republic of Pacitalia is a gargantuan, socially progressive nation, ruled by Franchessa Marconi with a fair hand, and renowned for its anti-smoking policies. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 19.701 billion hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

The government -- a sprawling, bureaucracy-choked morass -- juggles the competing demands of Education, Defence, and Commerce. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Timiocato. The average income tax rate is 36%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Book Publishing industry, followed by Uranium Mining and Automobile Manufacturing.

The government helps teach children how to kill a man from six paces, euthanasia is legal, cyber-crime and tin-foil hat sales are both increasing at record rates, and prison visits increase substantially during election years. Crime is relatively low, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Pacitalia's national animal is the blue fox, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the douro.

Pacitalia is ranked 213th in Atlantian Oceania and 117,155th in the world for Most Conservative, scoring 27 on the Bush-Santorum Dawning Terror Index.
