The Kingdom of Oswaroth is a colossal, socially progressive nation, ruled by Leader with an even hand, and renowned for its anti-smoking policies. Its hard-nosed population of 5.302 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Healthcare, and Public Transport. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Oswaroth City. The average income tax rate is 14%. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

Only fully-fledged members of MENSA are allowed to vote, every product goes through extensive safety-testing by the government, the government has declined to declare any particular religion as its 'official' one, and bicyclists are banned from major roads. Crime is crippling. Oswaroth's national animal is the fox, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Dollar.

Oswaroth is ranked 444th in Europe and 96,439th in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring -28 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
