The Confederacy of Oriskany Falls is a gargantuan, safe nation, ruled by Mahdi with a fair hand, and renowned for its irreverence towards religion. Its hard-nosed, intelligent population of 13.607 billion enjoy a sensible mix of personal and economic freedoms, while the political process is open and the people's right to vote held sacrosanct.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of the Environment, Defence, and Law & Order. Income tax is unheard of. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

The government covers the basic health care of its citizens, prosecutors routinely call transplant doctors as 'expert witnesses' in burglary cases, hundreds of thousands of convicts work as slaves in Oriskany Falls's many privately-owned prisons, and eight year-olds can be seen lighting up in public areas. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Oriskany Falls's national animal is the Snark, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Duct Tape.
