The Kingdom of Olesnica is a massive, devout nation, ruled by Patrik I with an even hand, and notable for its complete absence of social welfare. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 4.271 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

The enormous, corrupt government devotes most of its attentions to Defence, with areas such as Social Equality and the Environment receiving almost no funds by comparison. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 19%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Book Publishing industry.

Military spending is on the increase, corporate 'hostile takeovers' now involve ICBMs and main battle tanks, protesters are up in arms over new nuclear power stations, and the psych wards are overflowing with transsexuals. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Olesnica's national animal is the silver eagle, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the golden olesnicki.

Olesnica is ranked 456th in Europe and 82,795th in the world for Most Compassionate Citizens, scoring -31 on the Kitten Softness Rating.
