The Republic of Old California is a massive, socially progressive nation, ruled by William Peterson II with an even hand, and renowned for its sprawling nuclear power plants. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 2.659 billion enjoy extensive civil freedoms, particularly in social issues, while business tends to be more regulated.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Defence, although Law & Order and Healthcare are secondary priorities. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, followed by Automobile Manufacturing and Tourism.

Racial supremacists indulge their wildest fantasies in cinemas and theatres across the nation, the government is spending billions of taxpayer OCR Dollars to support the Arms Manufacturing industry, roads are often attended by round-the-clock construction crews, and the nation's infamous boot camp is more brutal than most battlefields. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Old California's national animal is the Grizzly Bear, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the OCR Dollar.
