Overview • PeopleGovernmentEconomyTrendAnalysis

The Empire of Old-Britannia is a massive, cultured nation, ruled by Gene O'Cide with an even hand, and notable for its museums and concert halls. Its hard-nosed population of 4.138 billion are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it is mainly concerned with Defence, although Law & Order and Education are on the agenda. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Olympus. The average income tax rate is 100%. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Arms Manufacturing.

Billions of credits are being blown on orbital weapons development, roads are often attended by round-the-clock construction crews, all beauty contests have been banned, and senior citizens can usually be found doing heavy manual labour. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Old-Britannia's national animal is the bear, which is also the nation's favorite main course, its national religion is The Dark Brotherhood of the Shadow, and its currency is the credit.

Old-Britannia is ranked 149th in USSR and 98,233rd in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring -32 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
