The Democratic Republic of Occoron is a massive, economically powerful nation, ruled by President Fernando Mahanga with a fair hand, and remarkable for its museums and concert halls. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 4.122 billion are free to do what they want with their own bodies, and vote for whoever they like in elections; if they go into business, however, they are regulated to within an inch of their lives.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it is mainly concerned with Education, although Commerce and Healthcare are secondary priorities. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Montevideo. The average income tax rate is 54%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Information Technology industry, followed by Book Publishing and Tourism.

Elevator music has been replaced by thrash metal played at maximum volume, invading armies are given hard glares for their cheek, abortions are routinely performed in Occoron's hospitals, and parents live in fear of governmental 'child protection' squads. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is a serious problem, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Occoron's national animal is the dog, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Euro.

Occoron is ranked 63rd in European Union and 36,489th in the world for Most Eco-Friendly Governments, scoring 24 on the Dolphin Recycling Awareness Index.
