The Republic of NW is a huge, economically powerful nation, renowned for its complete absence of social welfare. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 694 million live in a state of perpetual fear, as a complete breakdown of social order has led to the rise of order through biker gangs.

There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded, liberal, pro-business individuals juggles the competing demands of Commerce, the Environment, and Religion & Spirituality. The average income tax rate is 9%. A substantial private sector is led by the Woodchip Exports industry, followed by Pizza Delivery and Uranium Mining.

Citizens can be frequently spotted going about their business stark naked, high-income earners pay a 100% tax rate, voting is voluntary, and the country's famous rainforests are being bulldozed by the mining industry. Crime is a major problem, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. NW's national animal is the deer, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the dollar.

NW is ranked 1st in the Pacific Command and 44,609th in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring -12 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
