The Republica 10000 of Nuew is a massive, genial nation, ruled by The Guy with a fair hand, and notable for its ban on automobiles. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 4.867 billion are free to do what they want with their own bodies, and vote for whoever they like in elections; if they go into business, however, they are regulated to within an inch of their lives.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, liberal, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Social Welfare, and the Environment. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Dr Mario Kitten Land City. The average income tax rate is 81%, and even higher for the wealthy. A small private sector is dominated by the Book Publishing industry.

UFO sightings are listed daily in the morning news, the government is giving peace a chance, pharmacies close down as medicinal drugs are sold freely by the government, and Nuew's children are widely acknowledged as the most foul-mouthed in the region. Crime is totally unknown. Nuew's national animal is the Nuewian Cat, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Credit.

Nuew is ranked 21st in Versutian Federation and 10,525th in the world for Most Eco-Friendly Governments, scoring 65 on the Dolphin Recycling Awareness Index.
