The airship business has been driven out of the country by strict regulations and high fines, believers must practice religion behind church doors lest the government smite them with a mighty fine, glittering new sports stadiums adorn every city and town, and guns are banned. Crime is totally unknown. Novikov's national animal is the falcon, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, its national religion is the Novikovian Orthodox Church, and its currency is the Oceanian Pound.
