Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 2.664 billion hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it devotes most of its attentions to Education, with areas such as Religion & Spirituality and Social Equality receiving almost no funds by comparison. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Toulouse. The average income tax rate is 64%, and even higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Book Publishing industry, followed by Tourism and Beef-Based Agriculture.

Truth is often impossible to tell from fiction on the evening news, the government is spending millions on renovating the public transportation system, citizens are allowed to rise or fall based on their own merits, and the latest Harry Potter book is a bestseller. Crime is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Nou Occitania's national animal is the ibex, which is also the nation's favorite main course, its national religion is Roman Catholicism, and its currency is the euro.

Nou Occitania is ranked 414th in Europe and 94,290th in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring -25 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
