The Federal Commonwealth of Nostradom Islands is a massive, economically powerful nation, ruled by Federal Governor Victor Frayer with an even hand, and notable for its keen interest in outer space. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 1.303 billion are either ruled by a sleek, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.

The small government juggles the competing demands of Defence, Education, and Law & Order. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of the District of Propheties. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 3%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Gambling, Tourism, and Information Technology industries.

Much of Nostradom Islands's computer network is controlled by a rampant artificial intelligence, citizens live in superstitious fear of the mysterious glowing clouds that float over Nostradom Islands, gigantic new prisons are springing up all over the nation, and eight year-olds with lemonade stands have been known to be locked up on charges of embezzlement. Crime is relatively low, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Nostradom Islands's national animal is the Wisent, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Federal Credit.

Nostradom Islands is ranked 15th in the region and 32,772nd in the world for Happiest Citizens.
