The Three Tribes of Northern Sea is a gargantuan, safe nation, ruled by Chief Cardon Arnook with an even hand, and remarkable for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 11.562 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.
The tiny government juggles the competing demands of Defence, Law & Order, and Education. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Cresden. Income tax is unheard of. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Beef-Based Agriculture industry.
Pinkerton agents are called in to forcibly break up white collar strikes, inheritance tax has recently been abolished, morning coffees are no longer the same since the disappearance of newspapers, and a typical fast food menu item could serve a small army. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Northern Sea's national animal is the Seal, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Polo.
Northern Sea is ranked 82nd in Osiris and 2,861st in the world for Shortest Average Lifespan, scoring 24 on the Bus Surprisal Index.
