The Republic of Northern Berks is a massive, economically powerful nation, ruled by James T Kirk with an even hand, and renowned for its complete lack of public education. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, intelligent population of 2.672 billion are either ruled by a sleek, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.

The medium-sized, pro-business government juggles the competing demands of Defence, Religion & Spirituality, and Law & Order. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Enterprise. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 1%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Beef-Based Agriculture, Arms Manufacturing, and Information Technology industries.

Drug distribution is tightly controlled by the government, atheists are heavily taxed, police officers have been re-kitted with designer uniforms and gold plated handcuffs, and Members of Parliament are often found living in cardboard boxes. Crime is moderate. Northern Berks's national animal is the Tribble, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Dollar.
