The People of North Wiedna is a colossal, socially progressive nation, ruled by Laozi with a fair hand, and notable for its complete absence of social welfare. Its hard-nosed, intelligent population of 9.06 billion hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

There is no government in the normal sense of the word; however, a small group of community-minded individuals is effectively ruled by the Department of Education, with areas such as Social Equality and Religion & Spirituality receiving almost no funds by comparison. Truth is often impossible to tell from fiction on the evening news, CEOs can't hear the term 'Fire Sale' without bursting into tears, the new 'Things We Stole From Other Countries' exhibition at the National Museum of Antiquities is a hit, and online tourism reviews of North Wiedna are suspiciously positive and amazingly similar. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is crippling. North Wiedna's national animal is the Baiji, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, its national religion is Taoism, and its currency is the Gold piece.
