The Bailiwick of Normandish is a massive, economically powerful nation, ruled by Bailiff Dredd with an even hand, and remarkable for its museums and concert halls. Its compassionate population of 4.623 billion are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Education, and Law & Order. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Normandia. The average income tax rate is 100%. A robust private sector is dominated by the Book Publishing industry.

People caught mistreating Normandish's flag generally wind up in a great deal of pain, citizens applying for their first jobs face fierce competition from the homeless, politicians are often found scavenging bins at night to supplement their income, and naturists are jailed regularly for indecent exposure. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Normandish's national animal is the Leopard, which is also the nation's favorite main course, its national religion is Normandism, and its currency is the Normandish pound.
