The Bailiwick of Normandish is a massive, environmentally stunning nation, ruled by Bailiff Dredd with an even hand, and renowned for its punitive income tax rates. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 2.43 billion have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Education, and Law & Order. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Normandia. The average income tax rate is 99%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Arms Manufacturing industry.

Abortion is only legal in unusual circumstances, government-run brothels can be found on every street corner, punitive tariffs protect local industry, and the government has cut taxes in the face of widespread tax evasion. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Normandish's national animal is the Otter, which is also the nation's favorite main course, its national religion is Normandism, and its currency is the Normandish crown.
